Welcome to the new White Book!

Hello fans, readers, listeners, and players of A Game of Thrones: The Card Game Second Edition! This week I have exciting news for you.

Since I launched the website for the podcast and changed the name to The White Book last year, what was originally largely just a place to have our own hosting and stats so that I was no longer relying on others has gone through a variety of tweaks and upgrades. Thanks to an awesome and dedicated team of content creators, we’ve expanded to a variety of weekly and monthly content in written, audio, and visual forms. Thankfully, as well, I had a listener willing to step up and coordinate it all.

With all of those advancements, it became apparent that we were evolving into something much more than initially envisioned. We were, in essence, becoming a web magazine; as such, the current system just wasn’t going to cut it.

So, welcome to the new White Book.

Some of you may have seen the heads up a couple of weeks ago noting that we were going to be going through some changes, and some of you may have noticed some preliminary work as we rearranged menus and worked out a consistent and logical system of organization to make it as easy as possible for people to access all of their favorite content on the site, as well as exploring for new ideas. Now we’ve reached the next stage, and you’ll see the broad strokes of the site redesign to the type of layout and interaction that people expect from an online magazine.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that we’re done! Far from it! Consider this a soft launch as we get all of our ducks in a row. I’ll be continuing to tweak and update things from here with better search, more recently released cards in the popups, etc. And, of course, we’re trying to settle on a final course of action with the user login issues. I’ve had no luck so far, so it may be time to rip off the band-aid and ditch the current system. There’s a fair chance that might cause a lot of people to have to re-register. I’m hoping to come to a solution soon.

Oh, and I thought it was a bit odd to have “podcast” in the domain when we expanded, so I’ve set up www.thewhitebook.ws as a redirect. It’s a small thing, I know, but I like it.

If you’d like to contribute monetarily to the running of the site, don’t forget to use the donate button; or you can purchase the “donation” item in the shop. Or just some of the T-shirts and things. I’ve got a few more designs knocking around in my head already.

If you have some expertise that you’d like to donate, don’t hesitate to contact me on Facebook or at: contact@whitebookpodcast.com.

Thank you all, contributors, editors, co-hosts, listeners, and readers for an amazing time for the last 5.5 years and I look forward to many more.

Kennon
Will is a longtime fan of sci-fi and fantasy who first discovered the AGOT CCG in the fall of 2002, shortly after reading the first three novels that summer. He was instantly hooked and playing the game has been his competitive outlet every since. He cofounded 2 Champs and a Chump (now The White Book) in 2010 and since took over the show completely. His favorite faction is House Lannister and at heart he's a Shagga player in joust and a Queen of Thorns in melee.
